Computer applications that help in daily work
June 25th, 2010 by admin
Computer software can confuse many people and I was one of them. When I was new to computers, I thought when you have software installed; you had all that you need. I did not know that that an operating system (OS) was different from software application. In short, I thought that if I had a Microsoft OS installed, I would also have Microsoft (MS) Office. Now I know that it is not. Microsoft OS would only have Notepad, Word Pad and Paint accessory ‘applications’. Though you could compose in those formats, it does offer the flexibility and options that MS Word has.
MS Office updates through office supportline and this is true with every new version that comes out. It is actually automatic updates called service packs that the support line does. Just make sure that the update downloads from the Microsoft official website. Other than that, beware as it may have viruses that would not make it work properly.
Another feature of MS Office is the MS Excel. It works best for those who deal with numbers like accounting. Composed of grid lines having many columns and rows that could be expanded and made narrow, it is very convenient to use. The excel template has many mathematical functions and could be done at an instant. There are also several spreadsheets to accommodate numerous pages and entries. It will really take time though to get familiarized with excel because of its many functions. Formulas are available that you could apply to total or sum up a chosen set of entries. Highlighting and copy-paste is also possible. MS Excel can be used in many ways. There are features common to both Word and Excel but it depends on the user where he or she feels comfortable using them.
