    April 25th, 2010 by admin

The thought of a career in the fashion field is exciting for many individuals. However, some people do not realize there are subsets of careers in this industry that might not deal directly with apparel design. Finding the right job in this type of career can be attained through many avenues.

Travel, learning new design concepts, and meeting popular designers makes a career as a fashion designer fun. To work in this industry, it takes a personality of thriving on unexpected, last minute changes, and interaction with people from models to movie stars. There are demands in this field, but anyone with a love for creativity, and a good sketching talent will enjoy their job.

A two or four year degree may be necessary. Colleges, universities, and state approved texture design schools are the beginning steps for a career in this industry. Some of the courses include CAD (Computer Aided Design), understanding color, and an overall history of the industry. There are many choices in a curriculum, so speak with an adviser for the best possible guidance in educational options.

Internships are a valuable part of the work experience process. Some studios offer internships in collaboration with a university to school. Also, if a classroom schedule permits, more work can be sought independently to gain further experience. These two powerful forces of having a degree and work experience, will open employment doors after graduation.

Jobs can be sought in large firms, department stores, small boutiques, and in many other retail and wholesale areas. A desire to create footwear, jewelry, or other accessories for apparel, are more options for those with the creativity and talent.

Fashion is an exciting career path with many options to choose from for a full- or part-time career in design. Whether it is designing costumes or owning a shop, it takes persistence, determination and effort to get there. You may want to follow the fashion career path suggested if you want to create a style and brand that is distinctly your own and will be worn around the world as well as the high fashion designer salary that is possible.
