    So just what is a game designer? This is a person in the video game industry that is responsible for creating the game idea, game play and rules to a new video game either alone or as part of a team. There can be one designer for the whole game, or you can be assigned a specific task within the module of the game itself.

    These designers must have the ability to understand the difference between a good concept and a bad one, and be able to develop the idea into a format that can be built upon. This requires that you have a love of video games and are a player yourself since some of the nuances to the industry can only be understood by gamers.

    Having spatial and logic skills is a must. This allows you to envision and develop a logical game play as well as be able to present them while they are in development. You also need to be able to troubleshoot and fix bugs that happen, and they will often at an alarming rate because of the type of job it is.

    An eye for detail is also required as is the ability to quickly and efficiently carry out these visions. You need to be able to work, sometimes, long hours and be able to handle the stress of working to meet a deadline, . This means you need to fix problems fast and be able to move on and no be bogged down by small things.

    In finding out what is required for a game designer career, you also need to understand that you will have to have an education specifically geared for this, a love of video games and the ability to see things through. It can be a very demanding job, but is also one of the most rewarding to those that have a passion for the gaming industry.
