    Paths For Project Management Training

    May 17th, 2010 by admin

Project management training can be accomplished through several different paths. Large companies often offer on the job training for those interested through a project management office or other in house method, universities and colleges offer project management courses and there are nationally recognized certification programs to name a few paths.

Companies that have project management offices or are large enough to have enough projects to keep multiple project managers effectively occupied can offer on the job training for their employees. These project management training courses are usually geared towards a specific discipline, industry or method used predominantly in the company. While some companies have recognized certification programs this is not necessarily the case with all companies.

Secondary education training courses for project management are offered at several universities, colleges and technical schools throughout the country. These courses often have a wider scope than those offered at company specific project management offices since they will be used in a larger number of disciplines and over a wider range of projects. They can offer single courses, both credit and non credit, as well as fully structured programs to help project managers obtain the training they require.

Nationally recognized training centers and certification bodies such as the Project Management Institute also offer training for those looking for formal recognition of their education and experience. This method is often used by those looking to develop standalone careers as project managers versus those who provide this service besides other positions they might hold at a company.

The methods above are but a few of those available and regardless of the method used to obtain project management training, dedication and a desire to excel are essential. Those interested in receiving training or recognition for their education and experience should consider the different options available and pursue the one which meets their needs and future expectations.
