    Thoughts On Online Education

    June 3rd, 2010 by admin

There is a popular trend among educational institutions to move some of their classes in degree programs online. This gives them access to a number of students who wouldn’t be able to attend their university in the traditional manner. These online degrees offer a great deal of value to the student. They don’t have to interrupt their career and social life in order to attend classes and get an advanced degree. Often these degrees show videos from actual classroom teaching, so the experience is as close to a real class as is possible over the Internet.

There are some for-profit universities cashing in on this trend as well. For example could tell the offers a number of degrees the majority of the work is done online. They’re definitely a for-profit school given their high tuition.

Taking online classes isn’t for everyone. It requires a different type of discipline to sit and watch videos on the computer. However there are advantages as well. If you don’t understand the concept you can rewind the video and listen to it again. That’s not something that really easy to do in a class. However if you’re still confused it’s a bit more difficult to ask the teacher question. Still, if you have the question by e-mail it requires formulating your thoughts in a way to make your question clear. Often this level of thinking about the issue will solve your problem on your own.

Many of the traditional universities still require some type of residency requirement. This is to make sure that graduates get a feel and a connection directly to the university itself and of being on campus.
