You must posses some artistic talent and be able to competently use a computer and the software that designers use to create a final product. They need to be able to visualize ideas and be able to put them to paper, and have presentation skills to get the idea across to the client.

Designers must also be able to effectively use business and time management skills. They will be required to meet deadlines and to deliver quality products on time. This may include managing others, adhering to a budget and getting the product to the client on a deadline. They need to develop and use interpersonal skills, and be able to deal with people from all walks of life, since they will meet with clients, printers and technicians.
