The salary also depends on whether you work full time or part time. You also have to take in to consideration whether the cosmetologist is working for a company or if they are free lance. Some cosmetologist work from their own homes. The cosmetologist also has to build up a clientele.
When they first start out the money is not very good because they have not built up a clientele of people that repeatedly come back to them. If you are good at your job you will have many clients that will only use you for their hair styling needs. Most women and some men are very particular about who does their hair and even nails. Once you have certain clients that only want you then you are going to be making pretty good money.
The amount of money you make as a cosmetologist will also depend on the area you work in. If you work in a small town then you will make less than someone working in a big city like New York or Los Angeles. Your salary will also depend on how well your clients tip. Most of the money made will come from tips if you are working in a city with rich clients.
To determine a set salary would be hard to do because of all of these factors that have to be considered. However most cosmetologist make about twenty five thousand dollars a year or more. There is good money in cosmetology if you work in the right area.
