When is a name not a name?

What’s in a name, besides simple letters and the occasional symbol or two? Sometimes names aren’t even names at all. Everyone remembers the artist formerly known as prince. He had to be called the artist formerly known as prince because he changed his name to ‘♂’.

So what do you do with someone whose name is ‘♂’? Well you give them a name badge. ‘♂’ is not really a name you can say, so instead, they can simply point to their name badge. Name badges easily rectify little situations such as this. Often having a name badge eliminates the need to even speak at all. What if you’re meeting people for the first time and you’re not big on talking? The first thing person meeting for the first times ask is usually the name. Instead of speaking, just point.

What if you have a really long or hard to pronounce (or both) name? Say your name and for the rest of the night, refer to your name badge. Chances are you’ll be the only one wearing custom name badges. You can even have a name badge just as eccentric as your name. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and styles. It would not be too wise, however, to make a name badge that is too flashy.

A flashy name badge might take the attention of your name and then you’ll be presented with your initial problem. A name badge that isn’t flashy doesn’t equate to plain and boring name badge. It just means something simple and elegant that makes the statement that is your name.
